The Authors' Publishing Company was established in 1873 with William B. Smith as president. A number of its publications were as a result of monetary prizes awarded to the "best manuscripts". The company went into receivership in 1881. Later in 1881, Smith began his own namesake publishing house, W. B. Smith & Co.

This outfits only published one series for juveniles.

4. Visit to El-Fay-Gno-Land by Mrs. M. M. Sanford

All four books were copyrighted by the Author’s Publishing Company in 1879.
They were reprinted by the W. B. Smith & Co. firm. The Smith books have not been seen.

Books #1 and 2 were released first as the "Enchanted Library".
Later in 1879 the other two books were published.
