Hoag & Atwood published this twelve book series as the “Second Series” in 1831. In 1830 this firm published the twelve titles without noting a designated series. Clearly, in retrospect it was the first series since the "Second Series" was published in the following year.

In 1832 M. G. Atwood published the third series. 1834 M. G. Atwood (or Moses G. Atwood) published these twelve volumes as the "Fourth Series"

The "Fifth Series" was published by Moses G. Atwood in 1835.

Atwood & Brown published the “Sixth Series” of the twelve books in 1836 and the "Seventh Series" in 1837.

Boyd & White followed with the same books in its "Seventh Series" in 1839.

S. H. Colesworthy, a Portland, Maine firm published these titles in 1847. The books have an Atwood & Brown 1847 title page. An 1839 twelve title set different from this one was also published by Colesworthy. Details about that series can be seen at the bottom of this page. 4" x 2.5"
