D. B. Brooks and Brother, Salem, Mass.

Lyman B. Brooks (1830-1908) and his brother D. B. Brooks worked for the publisher John P. Jewett. Jewett sold its Salem publishing firm to the brothers in 1855 and they established D. B. Brooks and Bro. This firm moved to 55 Washington Street in Boston in the summer of 1867. In 1872 a fire destroyed the publishing and stationary departments of the firm. Subsequently the company concentrated on commercial lithography. It was a pioneer in the production of the pocket check book. When D. B. Brooks died, the company was renamed Lyman B. Brooks Company.

This firm published several other books for juveniles but there is no evidence that they were part of a series.
