Jacob Ernst, Cincinnati

Jacob Ernst joined Charles W. Thorp in 1838 in a new bookstore, stationery business, publishing house and bindery called Ernst & Thorp. The partnership dissolved in February, 1844 and Ernst succeeded the outfit. Jacob Ernst published a number of religious editions, textbooks and miscellaneous fiction until he left the book business in 1857. Ernst was succeeded by Anderson, Gates and Wright.

Jacob Ernst published two known series for juveniles: The Fourth and Fifth Series.
It is presumed that the First through Third Series were also published but as of this time (2022), I have not seen any evidence.
