J. S. Horton, Baltimore

John S. Horton (1802-1853) was a printer and an engraver in Providence, Rhode Island in the 1820's. Subsequently he moved to Baltimore.

In 1835 and 1836 Horton was located at 132 Market Street in Baltimore. It was there that it published in 1836 its one known series for juveniles, "Child's Library". Bayly & Burns, another Baltimore publisher, was located at this address between 1837 and 1839. It published a series with many of the same titles.

The exact title list in Horton's "Child Library" is unknown. The ten books noted below were in the series and two of the volumes, #3 and #5, were numbered (as shown).
