Patrick O'Shea, New York

Patrick O'Shea (1832-1906) emigrated from Ireland to the United States in 1851. He worked with the Dunigan Brothers for a time until he established his namesake publishing company in 1854. In 1879 bad real estate investments almost caused the demise of the company but O’Shea survived his financial issues. Until 1906 this firm was one of the major Catholic publishing houses in America.
