Richard H. Pease

Richard H. Pease (1813-1891) settled in Albany in about 1833. Shortly thereafter he established Pease's Circulating Library at 2912 Market Street. Of note, is that his cousin, Erastus H. Pease, came to Albany about the same time and started his bookstore.

Although best known for being the first company to print a Christmas card in the United States, Pease also published four juvenile series. These were the same series that his cousin Erastus printed.

Although it is not certain, it appears that Richard H. Pease started publishing these series in about 1847.
