Jos R. Putnam, New York

Jos. R. Putnam 1835-1910) was born in Maine. He served in the Civil War and rose to the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. In 1867 he moved from Chicago to New York when he became the manager of the Publishing House of the New Jerusalem Church. In 1871 he returned to Chicago. At that time he entered the real estate business.

While in New York, one series for juveniles was published with his namesake imprint.
