Bonnie Brier Bush Series-Ian Maclaren (John Watson)
Drumthacty Series

Published by Dodd, Mead & Co.
1. Beside the Bonnie Brier Bush (Copyright 1894)
2. The Days of Auld Lang Syne (Copyright and title page 1895)
3. Kate Carnegie and Those Ministers (Copyright 1896)

Published as a series by Dodd, Mead & Co.

Title #1 was announced by Dodd, Mead & Co. in November, 1894. It was the best seller of 1895 and subsequently was part of a number of publishers' series of various firms.

Title #3 is not noted as a sequel to the other two and was not published in the same format as those two volumes. It is listed here because many of its characters are the same as the first two books.

Illustrated with photographs by Clifton Johnson.

There is a question whether Format 1 or Format 1a is the true first edition of Beside the Bonnie Brier Bush. I believe that Format 1 is the true first edition. Format 1a has only 218 pages. Format 1a also has ads that indicate it was published after February of 1895 and the title was released initially in late 1894. Some copies of Format 1a despite the title page date of 1895 advertise "Kate Carnegie" which was not published until 1896.

Format 1 books have been seen with both 322 and 327 pages. Later books (title pages of 1897/1909/1910) have 327 pages and thus it is likely that the true first edition of title #1 has 322 pages.

Format 1a Volume 1 only 1895
This format has only been seen with title #1. I believe it was published after the first edition as noted above.
An advertisement for the upcoming volume #2 is noted opposite of the title page.
