Volume #1 was published by John R. Anderson & Co. Volumes #2 and #3 were first published by John R. Anderson and Henry S. Allen. Later copies of #2 and #3 were published by John R. Anderson & Co.

Volume 1 initially was not part of a series. Later when title #2 was published, the books were noted to be part of this series. In 1884 the set was sold in a box called the "President Library".

Cloth. Various colors. Gilt cover and spine lettering. Cover has a picture of a boy on horseback and Garfield being sworn in as president. 6.75" x 4.875".



Volume #2. (Format 1)
Cloth. Various colors. Gilt lettering on the spine and cover. Cover has a picture of a boy splitting a log and Lincoln at a table signing the Emancipation Proclamation.
7" x 5". (First edition has perfect type on the "99" on that page)



Volume 2. Format 2
Cloth. Grey. Cover pictures Lincoln signing the Emancipation Proclamation and splitting logs.
As opposed to Format 1, the cover does not note the name of the series and has different decorative patterns.

Cloth. Green Seen. Gilt letter box on the spine. Black cover decorations and lettering.
