These books were initially released in a non series format. In
November, 1865, the first four titles were sold separately or as a
boxed set of Cousin Bessie books. By January, 1866 the first five
titles comprised the Cousin Bessie Series. The Brownings (title #6) was
added to the series in 1871.
First published by M. W. Dodd and then later by Dodd & Mead and
Dodd, Mead & Co.
Later these titles were part of the various Economical Sunday School
Libraries.
