Faye Huntington (Theodosia Maria Toll Foster)

In 1877 the Chautauqua Girl's Library was introduced by D. Lothrop & Co. with these four titles.

1. Randolphs (Sequel to Household Puzzles) by Pansy (Copyright 1876)
2. Four Girls at Chautauqua by Pansy (Copyright 1876)
3. Chautauqua Girls at Home by Pansy (Copyright 1873)
4. Echoing and Re-echoing by Faye Huntington (Copyright 1878)

In 1878 volume #5 was added

5. Links in Rebecca's Life by Pansy (Copyright 1878)

By 1879 the "Library" had changed.
There were three titles. In 1880 two more titles were added to the library.

1. Four Girls at Chautauqua- Lothrop (Copyright 1876)
2. Chautauqua Girls at Home- Lothrop (Copyright 1877)
3. Ruth Erskine's Crosses (added to the series in 1880) (Copyright 1879)
4. Links in Rebecca's Life by Pansy (Copyright 1878)
5. From Different Standpoints by Pansy and Faye Huntington (Copyright 1878)

For most of the 1880's these titles were not listed as belonging to a series but rather were listed as "Pansy" books and described by size and price.

In the mid 1890's the Lothrop Publishing Company published the Chautauqua Series.
This series included six titles:

1. Four Girls at Chautauqua
2. Chautauqua Girls at Home
3. Ruth Erskine's Crosses
4. Judge Burnham's Daughters by Pansy (D. Lothrop Company Copyright 1888)
5. Hall in the Grove by Pansy (Copyright 1881)
6. Eighty-Seven by Pansy (D. Lothrop Company Copyright 1887)

Volumes 1-4 have related characters.

As of this time two books with the same format from the 1877 "Chautauqua's Girl's Library" have been seen. ("Chautauqua Girls at Home" and the “Randolphs") The first three titles were published in this format - shown directly below. Note the spine (sans some gilt) is the same as the Format 2 books.

This book directly below has been seen with an 1893 title page. Thus it is probably a later edition.

(I am not certain when this format began, but at the latest it was 1877)
Cloth. Various colors. Gilt letter boxes and designs (also in black) on the spine and cover. If the book was authored solely by Pansy, the Pansy name in gilt is written on the cover. If the book was written with Huntington or only by Huntington, a gilt decorative pattern is on the cover in place of the Pansy name. 7.25" x 5".
(This format was used for all of the books above published by D. Lothrop & Co. Books published by D. Lothrop Company and early Lothrop Publishing Company volumes also had this format although the covers still noted D. Lothrop & Co.)
