This series was introduced with the first four books in 1892. Estes and Lauriat published the first 7 titles. All other new titles were published by Dana Estes & Co. All the books had 32 pages and numerous illustrations. Estes and Lauriat books do not note a copyright or a title page date.

After Format 1 the only publisher of this series was Dana Estes & Co. Although a number of the Estes formats were published after 1900, they are reviewed here for completeness.

Format 1 (Volumes 1-7) Vellum Cloth. Right half of the front cover has various decorative patterns. The left half has a book specific line drawn picture with the title. 8" x 5". This format published until 1904.
This format was seen with the Estes and Lauriat and the Dana Estes & Co. (1899 and later) imprints.


Format 2. 1905
Vellum cloth stamped in gilt. Appliqué picture. This format was only published by Dana Estes & Co.


Format 3. (1906)
Cloth. Various colors. Cover has gilt frame within which is a book appropriate appliqué. This format was only published by Dana Estes & Co.


Format 4.
Wood veneer cover with a book specific picture within an an oval. 8" x 5". This format seen in 1907. This format was only published by Dana Estes & Co.


Format 5. 1908-1909
Cloth. Various colors. Gilt title on the cover. Picture in the center of the cover.
It appears that this new format was released in 1910. Only published by Dana Estes & Co.


Format 6. 1910-1912
Cloth. Various colors. Gilt lettering. Artistic lithograph inlaid on the cover.
