The series was first published by John E. Potter in 1865. By 1866 the titles noted John E. Potter & Co. as the publisher. In about 1867 Potter published the "Good Child's Illustrated Instruction Book" which contained all of the above titles in cloth in quarto size.. These books were published into the late 1870's.

The volumes had either plain pictures or illuminated illustrations.
