It appears that a fourth book, "Tailor Boy" by William M. Thayer was planned for 1864. This book was never published.

Editions have been seen in 1863, 1864, 1866 (Walker, Fuller and Co.) and 1867 (Horace B. Fuller)
It is presumed that the true first editions do not note on the title page a number of copies sold.

These books were very popular. An 1867 "Pioneer Boy" noted on the title page "thirty-first thousand"
