The American News Company published this series beginning in 1882 with only books #2, 4, 6 & 8 printed. In 1879 books #1,3, 5, and 7 were advertised as being 50 cent books in the “For the Young Folks” Series. In 1883 all eight titles were in the series. The books had been published previously but not considered to be part of this series.
To distinguish the earlier books (#1, 3, 5 ,7) with the same titles from the books in this series, the back cover ads are helpful. The later books list all eight titles in the "Sunshine Series". The earlier books do not list #2, 4, 6 and 8.
