Sunday School Books

Published by Sheldon, Blakeman & Co./Sheldon & Co.

This library has been noted to include 100 titles. I have only seen a list that goes to 57 books. Sheldon, Blakeman & Co. published the Sunday School Books in 1859 as a set of 22 volumes. Some of the titles were also in the Sheldon set of the 1860's which are noted below whereas others were not. The earlier Sheldon, Blakeman & Co. books are noted by SB after the titles in the list. The "not included" volumes are noted below the list.

Most of the Sheldon books were subsequently part of various Sheldon & Co. libraries or series. By December, 1859 there were 54 titles in this series which was also called the Sabbath School Library.

Since the books themselves do not indicate that they are part of this series, it is very difficult to determine whether a book in hand is part of this library or not. It would seem logical that if a title is part of a subsequent series and the book in hand's format does not conform to that series' format, then it belongs to this series.
