The first editions were issued in cloth. By 1885 the titles were being published in both cloth and board covers.

Illuminated board covers. Cover in various light colors with a picture of a ladder and some sort of mechanical device. A circle on the cover encloses different people for each book. 9” x 7”. (These books were published in the same format for a number of years.)
