Cloth. Red, brown and green have been seen. Gilt image of the title character is on the center of the front cover. Embossed pattern surrounding the image. The spine has a gilt decoration within which is the gilt lettered title of the book. 3" x 4.5". These volumes cost 50 cents each.

Hand colored illustrated title page and frontispiece. (Occasionally these pages are seen in black and white.) Several woodcut illustrations are noted.

The Life of Duke Wellington also was published in a gilt-edge volume for 60 cents.
