Roberts Brothers introduced these books as a series with the publication of the second book. All the titles are also part of the "Susan Coolidge's Popular Story Books".

Illustrated

Four formats have been noted.
There appears to be some overlap in the years between formats. i. e. Some Format 2 books were published in 1890 and some Format 4 books were published in 1889.

Format 1: First editions for Volumes #1 and #2
Cloth. Various colors. Gilt cover lettering with illustration in black and gilt. 5.25" x 7".
This format has been seen between 1873 and 1887.


Format 2: Volumes 1-3.
First edition for #3.
Cloth. Various colors. Cover illustration of grasshoppers and lettering in black.Gilt spine lettering.
This format has been seen between 1886-1890.


Format 3:
Volume #4 First edition
Cloth. Various colors. Gilt covering and design.
Seen between 1888-1892.
In 1890 "Clover" was also published in Format 4.


Format 4:
Volumes #1-5
Cloth. Various colors. Cover with floral design. Gilt spine lettering. 12 mo.
First edition for #5.
This format was seen between 1889 and 1897. Little, Brown & Co. used this format beginning in 1898.
