This series was published by Harper & Brothers. The books had all been published previously in non-series formats.

Books #1-3 had new copyrights of 1851. Book #4 was added to the series in 1855 with a new copyright. The latter book is a combination of two previously published volumes in 1838 and 1839 by Crocker & Brewster.

The book editions were published in multiple years: 1851, 1852, 1855, 1859, 1861, 1873 and 1880.
